How to do the A-Skip

Hips and Calves · also works quads, core

Step by step

  1. Stand tall and start a light skip in place or moving forward.
  2. Drive one knee up to hip height as you hop off the opposite foot.
  3. Land softly on the ball of the foot and drive the other knee up.
  4. Keep an easy, springy rhythm and stay tall.
  5. Take short breaks whenever you need - this should warm you up, not wear you out.
The thing people get wrong

Land quietly on the balls of the feet with a tall posture - keep it light and rhythmic rather than sprinting hard.

Coaching cue

Punch the opposite arm forward as each knee drives up to keep the rhythm.

Make it easier or harder
