How to do the Band Good Morning

Hamstrings and Glutes

Step by step

  1. Stand on the middle of a band with feet hip-width apart and loop it across your upper back.
  2. Stand tall with a slight bend in your knees and your hands holding the band in place.
  3. Push your hips straight back and hinge your torso forward, keeping your back flat.
  4. Lower until you feel a stretch in your hamstrings, torso around parallel.
  5. Drive your hips forward to stand back up tall against the band's pull.
The thing people get wrong

This is a hip hinge - bend at the hips with a flat back, not by rounding your spine. The knees stay softly bent and mostly still.

Coaching cue

Let the stretch behind your thighs tell you when to stop; when it stops building, stand back up.

What to do instead

Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.

Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
