How to do the Band Lateral Raise
Step by step
- Stand on the middle of a band with feet hip-width, holding a handle in each hand at your sides.
- Keep a slight bend in your elbows and stand tall.
- Raise your hands out to the sides up to about shoulder height against the band.
- Lead with your elbows and keep your shoulders down, away from your ears.
- Lower slowly against the band's pull back to your sides.
The thing people get wrong
Do not shrug your shoulders up toward your ears. Control the way down instead of letting the band snap your arms back.
Coaching cue
Stop at shoulder height; going higher shifts the work off the side of the shoulder.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Raise one arm at a time.
- Harder: Stand with your feet wider apart on the band for more tension.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Side delts
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
