How to do the Band Side Steps
Step by step
- Loop a band around your legs just above the knees or ankles.
- Set your feet shoulder-width apart and sink into a quarter squat.
- Step one foot out to the side, keeping tension in the band.
- Follow with the other foot, staying low and controlled the whole time.
- Step several times each way, and take short breaks whenever you need.
The thing people get wrong
Stay low and keep constant band tension - do not let your feet snap together or you lose the glute work.
Coaching cue
Push the stepping foot out from the hip and keep both knees tracking out, never caving in.

What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
