How to do the Band Triceps Pressdown
Step by step
- Anchor a band to a high point overhead and grab the free end with both hands.
- Stand tall with your elbows tucked close to your sides.
- Press your hands down until your arms are fully straight.
- Squeeze the triceps hard at the bottom lockout.
- Let your hands rise back up slowly, keeping the elbows pinned.
The thing people get wrong
Keep your elbows glued to your sides the whole time. Letting them drift forward turns the move into a press and unloads the triceps.
Coaching cue
Lean forward a touch so the band pulls straight down the line of your forearms.
Stay safe
Check the overhead anchor holds before you pull hard; a band that comes loose whips back at you.
