How to do the Cable Overhead Triceps
Step by step
- Attach a rope to a low pulley, face away from the stack, and bring the rope up behind your head.
- Step forward into a staggered stance with your upper arms pointing up beside your ears.
- Keeping your upper arms still, straighten your elbows to press the rope up and forward.
- Bend your elbows to lower the rope slowly behind your head until you feel the triceps stretch.
The thing people get wrong
Keep your upper arms fixed pointing at the ceiling - the deep stretch behind your head is the benefit, so move only at the elbows.
Coaching cue
Split your stance and lean slightly forward so the cable cannot pull you off balance.

What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
