How to do the Elliptical
Step by step
- Step onto the pedals, hold the handles lightly, and stand tall.
- Begin striding in a smooth, even motion, pushing and pulling the handles.
- Keep your posture upright and let the pace feel steady, not frantic.
- Adjust resistance to stay comfortable and breathe easily throughout.
The thing people get wrong
Keep a conversational pace and take short breaks whenever you need - this should warm you up, not wear you out; stay upright instead of slumping on the handles.
Coaching cue
Press through your whole foot and keep your heels down on the pedals.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Lower the resistance and stride at a slower, easy pace.
- Harder: Raise the resistance or incline and hold a quicker stride.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Cardio
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
