How to do the Hiking
Step by step
- Start at an easy pace and let your body warm into the walk.
- On climbs, shorten your steps and keep a steady, sustainable effort.
- On descents, take short, controlled steps and keep your knees soft.
- Watch your footing and step over roots and rocks rather than onto them.
- Take short breaks whenever you need - this should build you up, not wear you out.
The thing people get wrong
Pace the climbs so you can still hold a conversation, and slow down on rough or downhill ground where footing gets tricky.
Coaching cue
Push through your whole foot on climbs and stay tall instead of bending at the waist.
Stay safe
Carry water and tell someone your route; a rolled ankle far from the trailhead is the real risk.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Pick a flatter, shorter trail and rest at the top of each climb.
- Harder: Add distance, choose steeper trails, or carry a loaded pack.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Cardio, Glutes
- Secondary: Quads, Calves
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
