How to do the Walking Hip Opener
Step by step
- Stand tall, then step forward into a comfortable lunge.
- Open your lead knee out to the side, feeling the inside of the hip, then bring it back.
- Push up, step through, and repeat on the other leg as you walk forward.
- Move slowly and stay tall with no bouncing, at an easy conversational pace.
- Take short breaks whenever you need - this should warm you up, not wear you out.
The thing people get wrong
Go slow and controlled - this opens the hip, so there is no reason to bounce or force the range.
Coaching cue
Stay tall through the torso as the lead knee swings out so the stretch lands in the hip.
