How to do the Incline Push-Up

Chest and Triceps · also works front delts, core

Step by step

  1. Place your hands on a sturdy raised surface (bench, box, or bar) slightly wider than shoulders.
  2. Step your feet back so your body forms one straight line from head to heels.
  3. Keep your core tight and your ribs down.
  4. Bend your elbows to lower your chest toward the surface.
  5. Press through your hands to push back up to a straight-arm position.
The thing people get wrong

Keep a straight line from head to heels - do not let your hips sag. The higher the surface, the easier it is; lower it to progress.

Coaching cue

Set your hands level with your chest, not up by your neck.

What to do instead

Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.

Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
