How to do the Kettlebell Deadlift
Step by step
- Stand with a kettlebell on the floor between your feet, feet about hip-width apart.
- Push your hips back and bend to grip the handle with both hands, back flat.
- Keep your chest up and the bell close to your body.
- Drive through your feet and push your hips forward to stand tall with the bell.
- Hinge your hips back to lower the kettlebell under control to the floor.
The thing people get wrong
Lead with your hips going back, keeping the bell close to your legs. Keep your back flat rather than rounding to reach the handle.
Coaching cue
Squeeze your glutes and stand fully upright at the top rather than leaning back.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Hamstrings, Glutes
- Secondary: Core, Forearms
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
