How to do the Kettlebell Row
Step by step
- Set the kettlebell on the floor just outside one foot and stand beside it.
- Hinge at the hips with a flat back and soft knees, resting your free hand on your thigh or a bench for support.
- Grip the bell with the other hand and let that arm hang straight down.
- Pull the kettlebell up to your hip, driving your elbow back past your ribs.
- Squeeze your back at the top, then lower to a full stretch and finish your reps before switching hands.
The thing people get wrong
Keep your back flat and torso still - the movement is your arm rowing the bell, not your whole body swinging up to yank it.
Coaching cue
Keep both shoulders level instead of letting the working side hike up toward your ear.
Make it easier or harder
- Harder: Take the free hand off your thigh and hold the hinge unsupported.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Upper Back, Lats
- Secondary: Biceps, Core, Forearms
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
