How to do the Neck Release
Step by step
- Sit or stand tall with your shoulders relaxed down.
- Gently tip one ear toward that shoulder until you feel a mild stretch on the other side.
- Rest that hand lightly on your head for a touch more, no pulling.
- Hold softly, return to center, and repeat on the other side.
The thing people get wrong
Move slowly and never force it - a light tilt is plenty; the neck is sensitive, so no hard pulling or fast circles.
Coaching cue
Slide the opposite shoulder down away from your ear instead of pulling harder with your hand.
Stay safe
Stop if you feel dizzy or get tingling down the arm.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Skip the hand and let the head tip with its own weight only.
- Harder: Turn your nose slowly down toward the armpit to shift the stretch further back.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Side delts
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
