How to do the Reverse Curl

Forearms and Biceps · also works upper back

Step by step

  1. Stand tall holding a dumbbell in each hand with an overhand grip, palms facing your thighs.
  2. Keep your elbows tucked at your sides and your wrists firm and straight.
  3. Curl the dumbbells up toward your shoulders without letting your wrists drop back.
  4. Squeeze at the top, then lower slowly until your arms are straight.
The thing people get wrong

The overhand grip works your forearms hard, so use lighter weight than a normal curl and keep your wrists straight rather than letting them bend back.

Coaching cue

Lead with your knuckles and keep them pointing up the whole way.

What to do instead

Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.

Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
