How to do the Seated Calf Raise
Step by step
- Sit on the machine with the pad snug over your lower thighs and the balls of your feet on the platform.
- Release the safety and let your heels drop for a gentle stretch.
- Press up onto the balls of your feet as high as you can.
- Squeeze your calves at the top for a moment.
- Lower slowly back to the stretched position and repeat.
The thing people get wrong
Move through the full range and pause at the top - short, bouncy reps skip most of the calf work.
Coaching cue
Push through your big toe rather than rolling out onto the little toe side of your foot.
Stay safe
Re-latch the machine safety before you slide your legs out from under the thigh pad.
Make it easier or harder
- Harder: Take four seconds to lower your heels on each rep.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Calves
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
