How to do the Stability Ball Leg Curl
Step by step
- Lie on your back with your heels and lower calves resting on a stability ball.
- Bridge your hips up so your body forms a straight line.
- Bend your knees and roll the ball in toward your glutes with your heels.
- Roll the ball back out slowly to straighten your legs, keeping hips lifted.
The thing people get wrong
Keep your hips tall throughout - the challenge is holding the bridge steady while the ball wants to wobble; let the hips drop and the hamstrings stop working.
Coaching cue
Roll the ball all the way in until your heels are near your glutes, then back out just as slowly.
Stay safe
Set up on a non-slip floor and clear space around you; the ball can shoot out from under your heels.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Keep your feet wider apart on the ball for more stability.
- Harder: Do one leg at a time with the other foot held off the ball.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Hamstrings
- Secondary: Glutes
