How to do the Standing Trunk Rotation

Core and Upper Back · also works side delts

Step by step

  1. Stand with feet hip-width and let your arms hang loose and relaxed.
  2. Rotate your torso side to side, letting your arms swing and wrap around you.
  3. Let the hips and back foot pivot naturally to follow each turn.
  4. Keep it loose and easy, building range gradually.
  5. Take short breaks whenever you need - this should warm you up, not wear you out.
The thing people get wrong

Stay relaxed and let the arms swing freely - this is a loose warm-up rotation, not a forceful twist.

Coaching cue

Keep your abs lightly switched on so the twist is controlled, not flopping at the end range.
