How to do the Toes-to-Bar

Core · also works lats, hips

Step by step

  1. Hang from a pull-up bar with both hands, shoulders active.
  2. Brace your core and pull your shoulders down slightly.
  3. Raise your legs up and forward to bring your toes toward the bar.
  4. Touch the bar with your feet, keeping the motion controlled.
  5. Lower your legs back down slowly without swinging into the next rep.
The thing people get wrong

Do it with control rather than kipping and swinging. If you cannot reach the bar cleanly, drop back to hanging knee raises first.

Coaching cue

Pull down on the bar with straight arms as your feet travel up.

Stay safe

Come off the bar before your grip fails; do not swing wildly to force out the last rep.

Make it easier or harder
