How to do the Wall Handstand Hold
Step by step
- Clear the space, then get into a push-up position with your back to a wall and your feet touching its base.
- Walk your feet up the wall and your hands in toward it until your body is stacked over your hands.
- Press the floor away, squeeze your legs together, and hold a straight line with your core tight.
- Breathe steadily and hold only as long as your shoulders stay solid.
- Walk your feet back down the wall one at a time to come out of the hold.
The thing people get wrong
Build your hold time gradually and come down as soon as your arms start shaking - do not chase a long hold before your shoulders can support you.
Coaching cue
Look at the floor between your hands and keep pushing the floor away so your shoulders stay strong.
Stay safe
Clear the space first; if your arms give out, turn to one side and step down rather than collapsing.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Walk your feet only partway up the wall and hold there.
- Harder: Walk your hands closer to the wall so more weight stacks over your shoulders.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Front delts, Core
- Secondary: Side delts, Triceps, Upper Back
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
