How to do the Wrist Flexor Stretch
Step by step
- Extend one arm straight in front of you at shoulder height, palm up.
- With the other hand, gently pull the fingers back and down toward the floor.
- Feel the stretch along the inside of the forearm.
- Hold with easy breathing, then switch arms.
The thing people get wrong
Keep the elbow straight and pull gently - the forearm and wrist need only light tension, never a hard yank.
Coaching cue
Pull the whole palm and all the fingers back together, not just one or two fingers.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Bend the elbow slightly to take some of the stretch off.
- Harder: Turn the palm outward before pulling the fingers back.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Biceps
