How to do the Band Chest Press
Step by step
- Anchor a band behind you at chest height and hold a handle in each hand.
- Step forward to add tension and stagger your feet for a stable base.
- Start with your hands at chest level, elbows bent and pointing back.
- Press your hands forward until your arms are straight in front of your chest.
- Return slowly against the band's pull to the starting position.
The thing people get wrong
Keep your core braced so the band does not pull you backward. Control the return instead of letting the band snap your arms back.
Coaching cue
Bring your hands slightly toward each other at the end so your chest finishes the rep.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Step back toward the anchor to lower the band tension.
- Harder: Step farther forward, or press one arm at a time.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Chest, Triceps
- Secondary: Front delts
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
