How to do the Cable Curl

Biceps

Step by step

  1. Attach a bar to a low pulley and stand facing the stack, gripping it underhand.
  2. Keep your elbows tucked at your sides with your arms extended down.
  3. Curl the bar up toward your shoulders, bending only at the elbows.
  4. Squeeze your biceps at the top, then lower slowly against the cable tension.
The thing people get wrong

The cable keeps steady tension even at the bottom, so lower slowly and fully rather than letting the weight yank your arms straight.

Coaching cue

Stand still with your elbows pinned at your sides; do not lean back to start the lift.

What to do instead

Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.

Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
