How to do the Chest Doorway Stretch
Step by step
- Stand in a doorway and place your forearms on the frame with elbows about shoulder height.
- Step one foot through the doorway to anchor yourself.
- Lean your chest gently forward until you feel a stretch across the front of the chest.
- Hold easily and breathe, keeping your shoulders down away from your ears.
The thing people get wrong
Ease into it gently - a slow lean until you feel a mild stretch is enough; pushing hard or bouncing can strain the shoulder.
Coaching cue
Squeeze your shoulder blades together as you lean so the chest opens rather than the shoulder joint.
Stay safe
Numbness or tingling in the hand means back out of it right away.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Drop your elbows below shoulder height and step through less.
- Harder: Do one arm at a time so you can lean farther into each side.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Chest, Side delts
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
