How to do the Jumping Jack
Step by step
- Stand with feet together and arms at your sides.
- Jump your feet out wide while raising your arms overhead.
- Jump your feet back together and lower your arms in one smooth motion.
- Land softly on the balls of your feet with slightly bent knees.
- Keep an easy pace and take short breaks whenever you need - this should warm you up, not wear you out.
The thing people get wrong
Land softly with soft knees instead of stiff, heavy landings, and step it out instead of jumping if your joints complain.
Coaching cue
Reach your arms all the way overhead and your feet all the way wide on every rep.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Step one foot out at a time instead of jumping, with the arms still moving.
- Harder: Speed up the pace, or add a small squat each time your feet land wide.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Cardio
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
