How to do the Kettlebell Press

Front delts and Triceps · also works side delts, core

Step by step

  1. Clean or lift a kettlebell up to one shoulder so it rests on the back of your forearm.
  2. Keep your wrist straight and your elbow in, with your core braced and feet about hip-width.
  3. Press the bell straight overhead until your arm is straight.
  4. Lower it back to the shoulder rack position under control and repeat.
  5. Finish all your reps on that side, then switch the bell to the other hand and repeat.
The thing people get wrong

Keep your wrist straight so the bell sits on your forearm, not bent back - a kinked wrist under load is the most common mistake here.

Coaching cue

Squeeze your glutes and brace your core so your ribs stay down as you press.

Stay safe

Lower the bell back to your shoulder under control; letting it drop bangs your forearm and wrist.

What to do instead

Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.

Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
