How to do the Machine Preacher Curl
Step by step
- Adjust the seat so your armpits rest at the top of the angled pad and grip the handles.
- Set the backs of your upper arms flat against the pad, arms extended.
- Curl the handles up toward your shoulders by bending your elbows.
- Squeeze at the top, then lower slowly until your arms are nearly straight.
The thing people get wrong
Keep your upper arms flat on the pad and lower under control - snapping the bottom of a preacher curl open can strain the elbow and bicep tendon.
Coaching cue
Keep your chest against the top of the pad instead of shrugging up to help the weight.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Biceps
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
