How to do the Hill Walk

Cardio and Glutes

Step by step

  1. Find a hill or set a treadmill incline, then stand tall to start.
  2. Walk uphill with full strides, driving through your feet and squeezing your glutes.
  3. Lean slightly forward from your ankles, not your waist, and keep your torso upright.
  4. Let your arms swing naturally and hold a pace where you could still talk.
  5. Outdoors, slow down and watch your footing coming back down; on a treadmill, drop the incline to recover.
The thing people get wrong

Keep it a conversational pace and take short breaks whenever you need - this should warm you up, not wear you out.

Coaching cue

Keep your hands off the rails and off your knees, and let your arms swing free.

What to do instead

Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.

Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
