How to do the Skater Hop
Step by step
- Stand on one leg with a slight knee bend and the other foot lifted behind you.
- Push off sideways and leap laterally onto the other foot.
- Land softly with a bent knee, letting the free leg swing behind for balance.
- Bound back to the first side and keep alternating in a smooth rhythm.
- Keep a pace you can control, and pause for a breather whenever you need one.
The thing people get wrong
Land soft and balanced on a bent knee before pushing off again - keep the hops smaller if your knee or balance feels shaky.
Coaching cue
Land and hold your balance on one leg for a beat before pushing off to the other side.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Step side to side and tap the toe down behind you instead of hopping.
- Harder: Bound farther sideways, or hold each landing for two seconds.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Cardio, Glutes
- Secondary: Quads, Calves
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
