How to do the Step Jack
Step by step
- Stand tall with feet together and arms down at your sides.
- Step one foot out to the side while raising your arms out and up.
- Step that foot back in and lower your arms to the start.
- Repeat leading with the other foot and keep an easy, steady rhythm.
The thing people get wrong
This is a jumping jack without the jump - keep it a conversational pace and take short breaks whenever you need; it should warm you up, not tire you out.
Coaching cue
Reach your arms all the way overhead on every rep instead of half-raising them.
Make it easier or harder
- Easier: Raise your arms only to shoulder height.
- Harder: Speed up the steps or add a small hop as your feet come together.
Muscles worked
- Primary: Cardio
What to do instead
Same job, different movement — useful if you don't have the equipment or it doesn't feel right today.
Daily Coach builds this into a real weekly plan. It picks the exercises for your equipment and experience, swaps around injuries you tell it about, and tracks what you actually lifted.
